Water damage can come in many forms and severity, this is classified into classes of damage which allow professionals to contend with and asses the scope of work required to remediate damages. Below are the description of different classes of water damage;
- Class 1 Damage - Damage with a slow rate of evaporation but affects only a portion of a room, the moisture is not absorbed very much into the room's materials.
- Class 2 Damage - Faster rate of evaporation, but water has soaked all floor carpeting or cushioning and has been wicked up by walls up to 24 inches.
- Class 3 Damage - Fastest rate of evaporation, but generally this damage type has water coming from overhead into the affected room and has socked everything from the ceiling, walls, and floor.
- Class 4 Damage - Special humidity and drying situations, typically involving low permanence materials such as hard wood or concrete that require specialty drying equipment.
