House on Fire Know the dangers of wildfires!

Living in California, wildfires are a very big concern when it comes to taking care of your home and property. Here are some facts and tips on how your home can be better prepared for a wildfire.

The topography and construction of your home - The layout of your land, including the construction of your home can be the deciding factor of your home surviving an impending wildfire. For example, the vegetation surrounding your home can serve as a prime ignition source as the chances of your home catching fire itself increases when the surrounding vegetation acts as a catalyst for the fire.

Another example is the construction of your home, fire can be affected by many factors including the materials your roof is built with and the vents in your home possibly carrying fire to combustible materials. The recommended fix for both these issues is one, using class A fireproof materials in the roofing of your home as to make it more fire resistant, and two, to move possibly combustible materials away from vents as to not encourage the spread of a potential fire.
