Your Business After A Fire

4/14/2021 (Permalink)

Presentation is important for any business, and doubly so in the service sector. If you own or manage a store or restaurant, your customers will likely be discouraged or even scared off by obvious signs of damage and visual blemishes on your property. SERVPRO knows first-hand that some of the most thorough visual damages to a building can come from fires, whether through the burn itself or any associated events and factors. These blemishes and issues are commonly cleaned up by our restoration teams, to ensure that once a company's doors get back open, they stay open.

Burn Marks

Burns and char easily rank among the most visible types of commercial fire damage immediately giving away to any observer the fact that a fire has burned in the area. Blackened or darkened materials, even if they have no other major damage beyond discoloration, can still be resource and time-intensive to cover up, often requiring a wide cleaning and repainting job to make sure colors blend well and no burn material remains.

Smoke and Ash

smoke and ash  leave a profound impact on a building, to both the sight and smell of anyone nearby. Smoke is a pervasive scent and easily noticeable in most cases, but can also leave behind a great deal of smearing and coat surfaces. Depending on the type of smoke and conditions of this fire, this may be a relatively easy cleanup job, or a more thorough repainting may be in order.

Structural Damage

SERVPRO can also help to restore mild structural damage caused by a fire, rebuilding walls, floors, supports, and other elements of a building if they have been burned through or collapsed on. We always aim to restore before replacing, and in this way can potentially save you thousands in reconstruction costs where they are not necessary.

Large Building Floods

2/10/2021 (Permalink)

Floods are a common occurrence in any property over time, but when floods occur in large commercial buildings with multiple floors the situation becomes quite a bit more complicated. A common scenario for flooding in large buildings is a flood in a higher floor or level that then leaks and seeps down into the walls and rooms of the lower levels of the buildings. This makes locating all affected areas quite difficult, in addition to this the flood and water can have a huge impact on the other infrastructure within the building such as plumbing and electrical. An issue such as this can also easily serve as a catalyst for mold growth within the building. If you have any questions regarding your home or commercial building call SERVPRO Today.

Commercial Buildings and Mold

11/26/2019 (Permalink)

Be weary of what causes mold.

It may come as a surprise but mold can be severe enough to condemn entire buildings. This has been the case with many types of commercial building that can be susceptible to mold because of the nature of the service or capacity they provide, for example refrigerated or special warehouses and buildings that have moist air. Other issues that can cause large scale mold are things such as leaky pipes, flooding, organic materials, or faulty basement sealing. Although a majority of the time most buildings will notice and remediate mold before it becomes so severe that the building would have to be condemned but in certain cases the mold is not as noticeable and causes large scale damage before being serviced.  To prevent these types of issues be weary of the conditions that cause mold and where it can occur.

You Need the Best Results When Your Business Experiences Commercial Water Damage

4/7/2017 (Permalink)

Water Damage to your business? Call SERVPRO of Hancock Park/Hollywood at (323) 545-6115 any time, day or night, 365 days a year

We know that your main concern is getting your business operations back to normal as soon as possible after any catastrophe, but commercial water damage is much more complex than most problems experienced by businesses today. Categories of water can quickly change from non-hazardous to very dangerous quickly. Water can spread in almost any direction, including up if conditions are right, and remaining flood waters can instantaneously ruin some certain products with even minute amounts.

Commercial water damage presents unique challenges because of the environment involved. From warehouses storing agricultural products to leather processing plants, inventory protection, and worker safety is both important to any business. Different types of water can cause damage, and even the cleanest water, category 1, can turn into the worst, category 3 when contaminants are present. These can happen when clean water is mixed or combined with another source of category 3 water, even if it is not causing any damage by itself (such as sewer water) or when bags of previously dry substances such as fertilizers or pesticides become saturated, and their contents leach into the water.

The damage to your inventory can also rapidly multiply. When products at the bottom of a stack can be a conduit for water by wicking it upwards toward other product that has not been damaged, it’s common sense to get those products on top removed to a safer location. We have team members who can provide this service while our technicians work in other areas, protecting your business from increased inventory loss.

Stacked bags of concrete and other dry products that are designed to be mixed with water, oil, or other liquid just prior to use may seem to be in saleable condition until they are examined on their undersides where water has accumulated. These ruined items need to be removed and accounted for on inventory loss sheets. For insurance purposes, all products need to be re-inventoried and noted as to their condition before the conclusion of our restoration work.

After you've made the initial call to us, we can begin the restoration process. Returning your business to normal operations is important, and we understand the complexities involved in keeping your employees safe while protecting your business's bottom line.

See How SERVPRO Can Help with Commercial Fire Damage

4/7/2017 (Permalink)

If you have any questions or would like to schedule an appointment with us, contact us at (323) 545-6115

Commercial fire damage can cause tremendous problems for your business. Though it may start relatively small, all types of fire damage carry hidden consequences, and if you are not careful, you may end up causing significant damage to your property. Fortunately, however, you can contact reliable experts to help you get your damage under control. Being aware of the repair process can help you understand what to tell the experts when it's time to take care of the damage.

Preliminary Inspections
Before the professionals can begin looking into any repair procedures; they will arrive at your property and take a look at the area to determine what the damage is like. This inspection is usually thorough, but the experts may need to take their time in particularly extensive instances of wear and tear. After the inspection, the specialists begin drawing up their plans. You can ask them about the necessary procedures, and they will be more than happy to answer any questions that you might have about the repair process.

Area Cleaning
After agreeing upon the procedures and schedules, the experts will prepare their equipment and come to your property at a later time. When they arrive, they will close off the area and make all the necessary preparations to begin the cleaning. The initial cleaning is relatively quick and paves the way for future procedures. Professionals will take care of surface damage by removing burnt sections and damaged equipment. It is strongly recommended for homeowners to clean up the area ahead of time to speed up the process for the professionals.

Odor Treatment
Often, the most difficult part of any cleanup procedure is taking care of the scent in the area. Burnt odors may linger in the air, causing damage to the property's surface on a microscopic level. No matter the extent of the damage, experts will take care of the scent by utilizing advanced cleaning technology. They permanently remove the presence of all odors in the area, making sure that there is no moisture damage around the sections of the property that did not sustain direct fire damage.

Final Restoration Steps
Once the odors are taken care of and the surrounding area appears clean, the professional’s then move on to the last step in addressing commercial fire damage. They survey the area and make sure that they did not miss any details. If there is serious structural damage to the property, the professionals may make the necessary repairs themselves or provide you with the contact information of experts who can help. The specialists take their time to address all details because lingering smoke and fire damage may result in future problems.

SERVPRO in Hancock Park/Hollywood is a locally owned business, and our experts always strive to provide our customers with efficient work and quality service. No matter the extent of the fire damage your property has suffered, we are ready to work with you and do our best to restore your area back to its desired state.

Business Operations Reopen Faster With SERVPRO's Restoration Needs

2/28/2017 (Permalink)

Call SERVPRO of Hancock Park/Hollywood at 323-545-6115 for all of your commercial restoration services

Getting back into your office economically and efficiently after water damage occurs is important so that you can get your business up and running again. Not only do you need professionals such as SERVPRO to clean up your water damaged building for your business, but you will also want the items inside to be restored as much as possible, too, including all your important documents.

When water damage strikes your business in Hancock Park/Hollywood our staff at SERVPRO can use our structural drying equipment to restore the contents inside your building as well, like your documents that are essential to business. We can dry the exterior of electronic equipment to mitigate water damage; if needed, we can farm out these sensitive pieces of equipment to a third party specialist.

We can create a special chamber to dry out some of your documents which were affected by water damage. The documents will be placed into the chamber and encased by plastic. Then, we will install a hose into the chamber which is connected to our structural drying equipment. This is an on the spot action to reduce on-going water damage. We can successfully dry out the structure of your office space and as many of the contents inside as possible. We also have access to freeze drying processes to salvage documents, fabrics, photographs, and papers.

Depending upon the kind of water damage and how long your building and contents have been wet, will help us determine what we can salvage or not. If our SERVPRO team is called in soon after the damage occurs, our chances are that much higher that we can save most of the items in your office building. We also work well with your insurance company to keep cost down and efficiency up.

If, however, the structure or contents are left wet for too long, it can lead to additional long-term problems down the road. Water damage can cause the deterioration of these items and your actual building. Of course, there are many commercial retail shops that suffer a material loss to their merchandise. Fortunately, inventory is not typically a problem in an office setting.

When water damage happens at your office building for any reason, contact our technicians at SERVPRO of Hancock Park/Hollywood right away. We have a very high success rate in drying all kinds of structures, furnishings, contents and perform these water remediation techniques on a regular basis. The sooner you contact us at (323) 545-6115, the better chance we have at saving as much of your property and contents as possible. Our business is to keep you in business.
